A serving lawmaker representing Akinyele/ Lagelu federal constituency and senatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party in the last election, Hon. Temitope Olatoye has been shot by some suspected political thugs.
Information gathered revealed that Olatoye, who is fondly called Sugar, had voted at his Alape village in Ward 13 Lagelu local government area before he was shot in the eyes by thugs.
Though, there are reports that the lawmaker is dead, but efforts made to confirm his death proved abortive.
A source who said the lawmaker had died said he has was rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), immediately he was shot.
Olatoye had last year dumped the ruling APC and joined the Action Democratic Party (ADP) where he ran in the election held on Saturday 23rd February. He was later defeated by APC Candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin.
However, all efforts made to get reactions of the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) and Public Relations Officer of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Olugbenga Fadeyi and Olusegun Oluwole respectively proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.
Oluwole told journalists that he has been out of the command but will also furnish journalists with the detailed information about the incident.
