A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State, Senator Effiong Bob has called to order the publisher of The Post Newspaper over an article on 2023 governorship bid in the state.

The former lawmaker frown at the publication which put his name as one of those who have started the battle to succeed Governor Udom Emmanuel who just won a re-election last week.

The statement by his special assistant on media and publicity, Anietie Akpan reads:

RE: 2023 MADNESS BEGINS: EFFIONG BOB, OBA, ONOFIOK LUKE, AKAN OKON IN BLOODY WAR

The attention of Senator Effiong Bob has been drawn to a publication in The Post newspaper of Friday 15th March, 2019 with the above headline.

Senator Bob frowns at the continuous use of his name, falsely, by newspaper publishers to sell their papers. He said that if they have nothing to write about, the option is for them to fold up instead of using people’s names falsely.

Senator Bob declared that he would not hesitate to take legal action against any newspaper house that will, henceforth, defame his name and hard earned reputation.

He called on members of the reading public to disregard the said publication as a figment of the publisher’s imagination and that of his sponsor.
