A 38-year-old driver, Oyewunmi Omolade, and one Dauda Bolatire, 50, on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, over alleged theft of a Mitsubishi pick up vehicle worth N9 million
Both men are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen goods.
The Prosecutor, ASP Peter Nwangwu, told the court that the defendants committed the offences with others still at large on April 6, at 12.35 a.m., at Sanni Balogun Street, New Oko-Oba, Lagos.
Nwangwu said that the driver stole a Mitsubishi Pick-up L200 with registration No. KTU 219 XH, valued at N9 million; one Hp laptop, cartons of Action Bitters drink and cash, all valued at N505,000, property of Intercontinental Distillers.
“The driver was asked to deliver the goods, Action Bitters, but instead absconded to an unknown location,’’ he said.
Nwangwu also alleged that Bolatire dishonestly received the stolen pick-up from Omolade at Tede area of Oyo State, knowing full well that it was a stolen vehicle.
He said the offences contravened Sections 287, 328 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates three years jail term for offenders.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs Aje-Afunwa, granted the duo N500, 000 bail each, with two responsible sureties each in like sum.
Aje-Afunwa said that one of the sureties should be a blood relation of the defendants.
She said that the sureties should be gainfully employed, and should show an evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government.
The magistrate adjourned the case until July 4 for mention.
