Ahead of the inauguration of the 9th Assembly in June, a group of Yoruba youth have thrown its weight behind the House majority leader, Femi Gbajabiamila for the post of Speaker.

The group, named Yoruba Council of Youth Worldwide  in a press release by its President, Aremo Dotun Hassan said among the options available, the Surulere 2 lawmaker remains the best.

It is on this premise, we the leadership of the Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide is pleased to announce as part of the resolution at her emergency meeting held in Lagos on Monday 8th April, 2019 unanimously endorse Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila for the post of House Speakership at the 9th Assembly of the Federal House of Representatives, while using this medium to call on all elected members at the 2019 general elections to rise above political party or ethnic lines to choosing the best man with the right intellectual acumen, intelligence and sound mind for the though job of Speakership.

It is most important to note, that Nigeria and Nigerians deserves a solidly grounded person with an uncommon experience as one of the leading serving Honourable; in human capacity and resource management to lead the “Green Chambers” to the next level of greatness and monumental national growth; a man of untainted credible credentials and selfless altruism of service to the people.

For the nation has been at the receiving end of the various pro-self-centred evil machinated and premiditated agendas of few power highjackers and vision provocateur in the past, nosediving various positively driven master plans and vision of the current and previous administrations, hence the need rejig ourselves as one united people to see beyond our current limitations to elect Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as Speaker at the plenary of the 9th Assembly election into the various positions of the house leadership functionaries come June, 2019.

We are pleased to mention, that if someone who believes in mentoring the youths is given the opportunity to serve, a whole lots we stand to gain as a nation, with more emphasis on his youth development initiatives and bills that will ensure and galvanize our hopes and aspirations as a citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, one can not forget various hard times through his personal and position as the House Leader has helped to mitigates and reshaped the nation towards pathway of success and solutions, currently he has sponsored and supported more people oriented bills, mostly to the advantage and support of the people, but at the detriment of vested interests, which defines him as an exceptional Nationalist and a man of courage, wisdom and vision.

He promised to bring governance close to the people in the grassroots, while dividends of democracy remains our common patrimony.

He is a key driver masses advocate against the electricity Gencos and Discos in the power sector from issuing estimated billing system, wherein if his bill is considered and signed into law, the masses will have cause to smile, precipitating our clarion call to all Nigerians irrespective of religion, ethnicity and party affiliations to jointly support Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila not on ethnic affinity as a distinct “Omoluabi Yoruba” alone, but based on his competency and capability to serve the Nigerian people.

We shall ensure to go all out to solicits supports through our sister unions and affiliates in the Nigerian Ethnic Nationality Youth Leaders Forum: comprising the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, The Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Council, The Itsekiri Youth Council, Ijaw Youth Council to mention a few to join in supporting Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila through their elected House of Representatives members.

We believe in Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila to bring on the table new horizon in house management and intellectual prowess skills in law making, oversights functions and national developments, for he is a good team player with the executive not as a “rubber stamp”, he is a bridge builder and detribalized Nigerian per excellence.

We strongly recommend Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila for Speaker at the 9th Assembly.
