A spillover student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife has reportedly committed suicide after failing to pass the courses holding him back on campus.
The student, identified as Kolapo Olowoporoku, was a student of Computer science and Engineering department and was supposed to graduate in the year 2017.
The late Kolapo was the former financial secretary of the students’ association of the department .
It was gathered that the courses holding him CVE & CSC 517 and he had to pass them before graduation.
Kolapo Olowoporoku with Facebook username “Olowoporoku kay-pee Kolapo” was the class rep of his class and ought to have undergone the compulsory NYSC service currently with his course mates who had their convocation last year.
The deceased took his outstanding courses in the last academic session 2017/2018 but it was gathered that he didn’t get up to the required pass mark to bid the said courses farewell.
Some of his colleagues who saw him prior to the unfortunate incident discovered that he was suffering from depression but they couldn’t figure out the cause of his situation.
He committed suicide on Friday as reported by the students union of the institution.
