Four staff of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) kidnapped in Rivers state last Tuesday have regained their freedom from their abductors.

The Director Disaster Risk Reduction of the agency, Mr Vincent Owan, confirmed their release to newsmen in Port Harcourt on Thursday saying that the four members of staff were released unhurt.

“Our staff that was abducted last week had been released unhurt, normally when people had being castrated for that period of time, they need to be taken to reputable hospital for treatment”, said Owan.

He added: “Presently they are receiving treatment at various hospital where they were referred to for treatment. “Though it’s a security issue but the National Emergency Management Agency as a responsive Agency of government did all it could take to make sure that they are released unhurt. “There was no ransom paid by NEMA to the best of my knowledge,” Owan.

He said that there were statutory agents of government that were responsible to cub security situation of kidnapping in the region, saying that they will carry out their duties effectively.

“Though they had been released unhurt but as human being, it will take sometime for them to get over the trauma because some of them are not stabilized and in their right mind to narrate the incident but we are grateful to God for their released,” he said.

Some of the victims that who were seen taking treatment in the hospital were unable to speak due to their trumatic state.

It will recalled that four of the agency staff who were commissioned to carryout National Food Security Intervention in Rivers were abducted by unknown gunmen at Ahoada along East West Road.
