The Supreme Court of Nigeria has fixed July 5 as the ray to deliver judgement on the appeal of candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in the 2018 governorship elections, Senator Ademola Adeleke challenging the victory of Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
The apex court fixed the date after hearing the appeals and the counter motions of the legal teams of both parties and the Independent National electoral commission.
The seven-man panel led by the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon Justice Tanko Mohammed.
Counsel of the People’s Democrati Party and Ademola was led by Dr Onyekachi Ikpeazu SAN while Chief Wole Olanipekun SAN led that of the All Progressives Congress/Gboyega Oyetola. Yusuf Alli SAN led the team of the INEC.
Adeleke is challenging the victory of the Abuja division of the Court of Appeal which declared Oyetola the winner of the election having won the case at the Election Petition Tribunal.
