The Honourable representing Irepodun/Olorunda/Orolu/Osogbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Olubukola Oyewo (Bukoy) has promised that his stay in the Nigerian lower legislative chambers will bring a new era of development to the people of his constituency.
Oyewo stated this on Sunday during this church thanksgiving service held on Sunday, June 23 at St. John’s Anglican Church, Ifon-Orolu, Orolu local government area of Osun State.
The reception which was attended by the wife of the Governor, State of Osun, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola, Immediate past Deputy Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Akintunde Adegboye, Senator representing Osun Central, Ajibola Basiru, Osun State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prince Gboyega Famodun, Hon Kamil Oyedele, Mrs Foluke Oyewo among others party guests.
In his speech tagged “message to the people of my constituency”, Oyewo thanked his Lord for being with him throughout the rigours of the election period and the successful inauguration in Abuja.
He appreciated the people of his constituency for the support, sacrifice and perseverance before, during and after the elections and promised to always put their interest first.
He said “Dearest people of Irepodun, Olorunda, Osogbo and Orolu local governments, today, we have gathered not to celebrate Bukoy but thank God Almightily and to celebrate ourselves for being the real achievers. May I sincerely appreciate your support before, during and after the 2019 general elections and I’ll continue to be with you, stand for you and represent your interest every time, everywhere.
“The journey has officially started some days ago as we have been inaugurated as members of the House of Representatives, Federal Republic of Nigeria. The last few weeks have been weeks characterized with rigorous consultation, meetings and brainstorming sessions, all centered on how dividends of democracy shall be delivered to your doorsteps.”
“Let me say that during our campaign, in line with our party’s Agenda, we promised an inclusive, robust and people-oriented representation. These shall be the focus of my stay in the Green Chambers as I shall operate an open system devoid of any opacity, favouritism and sentiments.
“Our uniquely developed campaign manifesto captioned it all. I want to reiterate that those items on the manifesto shall be delivered to you. I call it “our agenda” because it’s a collective vision, aspiration and unanimous decision of the people of all the communities that makes up our federal constituency.
“Permit me to tell the olds and young, men and women who have gathered here today and those who could not make it down here that a new era has come in the history of Irepodun/Olorunda/Orolu/Osogbo federal constituency and all of us shall reap the bounty of benefits we’re going to see in few days. You’ve laboured for it and you deserve to reap the fruits of your labour.
“In a foreseeable future, deserving students in our constituency should be expecting a scholarship programme, women will be empowered while the artisans will be assisted to boost their businesses.
He showered praises on his colleagues at the House of Representatives for standing with Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila to as the Speaker of the 9th Assembly adding that, “with him, we believe that the vision of our amiable President, Muhammadu Buhari for Nigeria will become reality in no time. I shall work in line with this to ensure that our country is taken to the Next Level.”
The lawmaker appreciated the leadership of his party, the All Progressives Congress and vowed to always toe the party line and recognize the supremacy of the party decisions.
“To the leaders of our party, All Progressives Congress, starting from our National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Our indefatigable National Leaders, Baba Bisi Akande, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the immediate past Governor of our state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, our amiable and irremovable Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, Prince Gboyega Famodun, and other leaders, I say a very big thank you not only for supporting my ambition but for laying a very good foundation for our party and Nigeria at large. I’ll remain a party man and always respect party decisions.” he concluded.
