The presidency has reacted to the advice given by individuals that a sovereign national conference will solve the challenges of insecurity across the country.

Speaking in Lagos on Sunday, the senior special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, berated those calling for a national conference.

While describing these individuals as undemocratic, Shehu said the president is open to suggestions on how to move the nation forward.

He also said it is wrong for anybody or group of people to say that the present administration is not doing anything as regards to insecurity or other major challenges being faced by Nigeria.

“For somebody to sit in his sitting room to say we are doing nothing is rubbish. President Buhari is open to ideas, suggestions are welcome.

“We have a National Assembly. For someone to sit in the comfort of his home to call for a national conference, shows the person is not a democrat,” Shehu said.
