The Chairman of Irepodun local government, Ilobu, Honourable Abayomi Oyedeji has described the death of an elder of the All Progressives Congress and Chairman, APC ward 2, Mr Rasheed Arowolo popularly known as “Baba Ibeji” as a great loss to the progressives fold, Ilobu, State of Osun and Nigeria at large.

Mr Arowolo, who was seen on Friday celebrate the victory of Governor Gboyega Oyetola at the Supreme Court was said to have developed an unknown ailment around 4am on Saturday and was taken to hospital in Osogbo where he was confirmed dead.

Several people who saw him on Friday could not hid their shock over the death of the politician. While some of the family members described the death as “mysterious”.

Oyedeji, who described the deceased as his confidant, leader and an umbrella that provides shield for thousands of APC members and other individuals in Ilobu and beyond, also announced that the final Fidau prayer holds tomorrow, Monday, July 8, 2019.

 

The council boss said Arowolo died at a time when his service is needed most.

“We have just lost a pillar, man of honour, father for many and a committed party loyalist who used his life to work for the emancipation of his people. We have lost someone who has been an umbrella giving shield and life to several party faithfuls.

“To me personally, I have lost a brother, leader and confidant. I have lost a tree whose fruits have been food for me. I have lost an adviser and friend. His death is painful because it’s coming barely 24 hours after the victory of our party and Governor Gboyega Oyetola at the Supreme Court.

“The progressives fold in Ilobu, Irepodun local government and Osun will miss him and we pray to Almighty Allah to grant him eternal rest.” he concluded.

Oyedeji commiserated with the family of the deceased, the APC in Irepodun under the leadership of Engineer Sola Akinwumi and the state chapter of the party under Prince Gboyega Famodun.

Meanwhile, the family of the late Arowolo has announced that the final fidau prayer for the deceased holds on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 10am at the residence of the deceased.
