The National Coordinator People’s Democratic Party Youth Alliance, Dr Charles Omini has described the arrest and detention of Publisher of Sahara Reporters by the federal government as illegal and an act that goes in contravention with democracy.

Omini stated this in a statement he signed on Wednesday in Abuja and made available to newsmen.

He said that the action of President Muhammadu Buhari All Progressives Congress-led government is a threat to our developing democracy.

Omini called on the federal government to release Omoleye Sowere without further delay as its a coup against Democracy.

He said “it is only in APC-led federal government that when you speak the truth you are described as being against the government.

“The APC-led federal government is the worst thing that has happened to Nigeria as rights of citizens are being denied”
