Barrister Adejare Mikhail Adebisi has won the sole commissionership slot zoned to Irepodun/Orolu state constituency by the administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola.

A source who was at the venue of the meeting told Insight media that Adebisi defeated his contender, former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs during the administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Barr Kolapo Alimi, who also showed interest in the position.

After the deadlock meeting held in Osogbo on Monday, where a consensus candidate could not emerge, the All Progressives Congress in Osogbo federal constituency resolved to set up a committee of stakeholders to ballot it out between the two lawyers.

The decision to go for election was unanimously agree by all stakeholders including the two contestants in the race.

On Wednesday, a delegation of 16 people from Orolu, and 19 from Irepodun – comprising of 9 from Ilobu and 10 from Erin- were set up and they resolved to go by voting.

Adebisi won the support of all the Orolu and Ilobu candidates – making 25 in total – while Alimi had five out of 10 from Erin with other five demanding for the slot to be zoned to Erin but for someone else.

Earlier before the voting, some of the delegates from Erin have protested against the process demanding that the two candidates should be sent. However, the majority at the meeting went against it.

As the poll was concluded, our sources said, “Barr Alimi urged the committee under the leadership of Hon Akintunde Adegboye to send the names of the two of them to the governor to decide. A move that was opposed by people present at the meeting.

“The APC state Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun has been informed of the decision of the constituency leaders as he called the constituency chairman to ask shortly after the process was completed.

Among those present at the meeting are Hon Akintunde Adegboye, Elder Sola Akinwunmi, Mr Sola Oladepo, Mr Adelakun and others.
