It was a jubilation galore in Erin-Osun, Irepodun South LCDA, Osun state today, Friday, August 16th as the Nigerian Association for Young Adults of Canada, NAYA, empowered widows and aged women in the community.

The distribution of the empowerment materials, which include money for start up businesses and food items cut across all the compounds in the ancient town.

Twenty selected widows were given N10,000 each to start a small and medium enterprise while 87 aged women drawn from all the 87 compounds were given food items.

Speaking at the programme, the President of NAYA, Mr Shola Agboola, who was represented by Mrs Jumoke Ibrahim said the aim of the programme is to fulfil the promise made by Arch Bishop Benjamin Mustapha, founder of the Resurrection Praise Ministry, to the people of the community during visitation on April this year.

Mr Agboola said economic development of the people at the grassroots is an integral part of the organization’s agenda for Nigerian. He called on the beneficiaries of the empowerment program to make the judicious use of the money as its effective use of it will determine what will be brought to the community next.

In his reaction, the National President of Erin-Osun Progressives Union and Asiwaju of Erin-Osun, Engr Hassan Alao who was represented by the 1st Vice President, Chief Kayode Olawale called on the beneficiaries of the gesture to maximize the use of the fund given to them.

He called on the sons and daughters of the town to always tap into the opportunity available to them to develop the community. He commended the NAYA for the kind gesture extended to the people of Erin-Osun and expressed the readiness of EPU to partner NAYA.

In his royal address, the Elerin of Erin-Osun, Oba Yussuff Omoloye Oyegbadun appreciated the members of NAYA for bringing the project to Erin-Osun.

The monarch said he was amazed by the humanitarian gestures of to and Arch Bishop Mustapha which he described as laudable. He appreciated the organization and pleaded with them to lend a helping hand in the revitalization of medical facilities in the community.

The beneficiaries who could not hid the joy, appreciated the NAYA and promised to make judicious use of the fund they have received.
