Members of the proscribed Islamic Movement in Nigeria aka Shiites have dared the Nigerian police and are currently carrying out their Ashura mourning procession in Abuja, Gombe, Kaduna and Katsina states, in defiance of the police.
The Ashura procession is an annual religious ritual carried out by the Shia Islamic sect all over the world on Muharram 10th of every year.
The Police yesterday released a statement saying the sect is still banned and any procession they hold will amount to the advancement of terrorism.
