Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde has lamented that the government of Osun state has in the recent time not meeting up with her responsibilities of payments of salaries of staff of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.
The institution has been facing financial crisis since the days of Governors Alao Akala and Olagunsoye Oyinlola and it got worse during Abiola Ajimobi and Rauf Aregbesola as the school went on several industrial actions.
In a series of tweets on Thursday, the governor said the institution is very important and he will have to pay Osun’s share of the salaries responsibility.
He tweeted, “On LAUTECH: Yesterday, the governing council cane to see me and we discussed all these. We’ve signed for worker payments but since it’s owned by both Osun and Oyo states, unfortunately Osun state has not paid. This can not continue.
“Few days ago, I spoke to Osun Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, the plan to split was signed between Akala and Oyinlola but we don’t know why it wasn’t implemented. Oyo state will have to pay the salary of LAUTECH (Osun’s share) because I don’t want the students to suffer.
“If we have to split up, then so be it. I won’t shy away from this divorce. LAUTECH is very important to Ogbomoso.”
