The Association of Famers in Osun state on Thursday, August 1st paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of the state of Osun, Mr Benedict Alabi in his office in Osogbo, the state capital.

Led by it’s state chairman, Chief Hakeem Adeniyi Adelodun, the association said its mission was to seek the support of the state government towards improving the agricultural sector in the state being one of the state blessed with fertile land.

Speaking shortly with newsmen after the meeting, Chief Adelodun said the association is looking at ways by which it will increase the number of agriprenuers among the youth as a way of boosting the economy through the agricultural practice.

“We are here to pay a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of the state, Mr Alabi. Our purpose of visit is simple and it is solely on development of agriculture in the state.

” We believe the real diversification can be done only through agricultural sector and Osun is integral being a state with arable land. We believe the state can come up with a scheme that will encourage younger ones to go into farming, thereby engage them and improve the economy of the state, ” he said.

The chairman applauded the Deputy Governor for has listening ears, adding that with the outcome of the discussion, the future looks bright for farmers in Osun.
