The National Council of Representatives (NCR), a legislative arm of National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS) has suspended the President of the union, Comrade Elisha Oderinwale for a period of 21 working days.
In a letter obtained by Insight Media correspondent in Osogbo late on Saturday, the NRC said the suspension was arrived at during their plenary on Saturday, October 19, 2019.
The letter, which was signed by the Speaker, Rt Hon. Olasupo Abdullah and the Clerk, Hon. Kareem Alabi alleged the President of violating article 3, section 15, sub-section III.
The letter reads in party, “In the meantime, you’re instructed to surrender union properties in your possession to the speaker and you’re also not to hold any public gathering addressing as the president nor contacting anybody that you are the President. Failure to comply with this instruction may itself constitute misconduct, which might result in further action against you.
“For avoidance of doubt, I will like to state that the above decision was arrived at by the majority of the members of NCR present.”
The council also sent a notification letter to the Commissioner of police, Abiodun Ige to inform her of their resolution.
The suspension cannot hold – President
In his reaction, the president, Comrade Oderinwale said the suspension will not hold as it was just a “kangaroo”.
In a telephone interview with Insight Media correspondent, Oderinwale said those behind the suspension are being used by some elements because of the issue of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso that he addressed.
He said, “the suspension cannot hold. It’s just a kangaroo. Most of the Honourables behind it are from LAUTECH and they are being used by some lecturers from the institution.
“Some of Oyo state indigenes were using them against the present administration in Osun and we will resist that,” he said.
When asked about the Monday public lecture, Oderinwale said, “it’s going to hold. It was the governor that picked the date and nothing can change it.”
