***Commends Governor Oyetola

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the State of Osun has been commended for making people’s healthy living a priority and the ongoing renovation and revitalization of Primary Health Care Centers across the state, particularly remodeling of 120 Bed Ward and 30 units Doctors’ quarters at the State Specialist Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo.

The South-West Zonal Coordinator on Saving One Million Lives Programme for Result (SOML-PforR), Dr. Ojuolape Solanke gave the commendation at the State Specialist hospital, when she paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Health and Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health, while on inspection of the project site at Asubiaro, Osogbo, yesterday (Thursday).

Dr. Ojuolape described State of Osun as a model of all the beneficiary States of SOML- PforR Fund. According to the coordinator, the ongoing projects across the state needs to be given adequate publicity for the world to know that Governor Oyetola and his team are doing the best to improve the health sector.

“I have done a lot of spot checks on some of PHC facilities. A lot of works has really gone, in terms of renovations and most of the facilities are ready and being utilised. Osun is really leading by example and we can’t wait to blow their trumpets,” Dr Ojuolape remarked.

Speaking on behalf of the State Government of Osun, Honourable commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health, Pharm. (Dr) Olasiji Olamiju both expressed gratitude to the South-West zonal coordinator for making Osun a model state in the federation. The duo assured Dr. Ojuolape that, the State shall not relent efforts in making people’s health a priority and will continue to remain a pacesseter for others.

Earlier, before the routine inspection of the project, a meeting of the project committee was held with the site engineers/contractors, where challenges that slow down the pace of construction were identified and resolved.

The contractors however promised that the 30 units doctors’ quarters will be ready before the end of the year while the 120 bedded ward is expected to be ready by the end of first quarter next year.

On honourable commissioner and Special Adviser’s entourage on inspection of the site were: the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Mr. Kayode Adegoke, Director, Medical Services, Hospitals Management Board, Dr Abayomi Oni and Chief Consultant, State Specialist Hospital, Asubiaro, Dr Babatunde Bello.
