Sacked Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, on Tuesday made a brief appearance at the National Assembly Complex.
Ado-Doguwa was sighted at the entrance of the House chamber shortly before the plenary on Tuesday. He was accompanied by lawmakers and aides.
He later walked away.
It could not be ascertained as of press time of the embattled lawmaker was prevented by security men from gaining entry into the chamber.
While the Independent National Electoral Commission had declared the Majority Leader, the third-ranking member of the House, as the winner of the February 23, National Assembly election, candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Yusha’u Salisu, had dragged Ado-Doguwa of the All Progressives Congress before the Kano State National and State Assemblies Election Petitions Tribunal.
The tribunal had on September 5, 2019, dismissed the petition filed by the PDP candidate. The Court of Appeal had , however, set aside the judgment, saying the entire process of the election was marred by irregularities.
The appellate court ordered the INEC to conduct a fresh election in the entire constituency within 90 days. (Punch)
