The Chairman of Nigerian in Diaspora Commission, Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa has described the Nigerian Association for Young Adults of Canada, NAYA, as the one of the most active and responsible groups of Nigerians known by the commission.
Dabiri-Erewa stated this during the official handing over of multi-million naira hospital equipment donated by the organization to the Federal Medical Center, Bida, Niger State, on Saturday.
Represented by her Special Assistant and the Head of Technology Transfer and Innovation of the Commission, Mr Terab Abdurrahman, Dabiri-Erewa said NAYA’s humanitarian activities towards improving lives of Nigerians at home remain commendable while its efforts to give Nigeria patriotic representation and promotion of Nigeria’s culture deserve accolades.
“We know that NAYA Canada is one of the most active Nigerian diaspora groups we have, whose main objectives have been the promotion of socio-economic and political interest of Nigerians in Canada, effecting positive changes in Nigerians lives back at home, and also enhancing Nigeria-Canada relations.
These objectives are part of what the commission seeks to achieve, which in turn makes us partners in the development of our great nation.
“NAYA as a non-profit organization comprising of brilliant and passionate young Nigerian adults have impacted many Nigerian lives through the donation of medical equipment worth billions of Naira to public hospitals across the nation. Culture and tourism have also been impacted positively by this organization. Some of these were achieved alongside its partnership with Development Agenda for Western Nigeria Commission (DAWN) on socio-economic development of the South west region of Nigeria.
“These are commendable developmental programs and projects for which we say thank you and salute your patriotism. We encourage you not to give up but continue with your rewarding endeavours for the benefit of yourselves and our dear nation. We really appreciate your kind gestures and do thank you immensely on behalf of all those who stand to benefit from your contributions.”
“By this gesture of putting together yet another set of hospital equipment and supplies worth millions of Naira, and then again freely donating them to the Federal Medical Centre Bida, which we are here to launch officially, you have again shown uncommon patriotism to the whole nation and the world at large.”
The Chairman called on the beneficiary (FMC, Bida) to “use this equipment and supplies judiciously, for the full benefit of their clients in order to ensure service effective delivery is provided to the sick and needy.”
