Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Timothy Owoeye has described social justice activist, Comrade Amitolu Shittu as a revered national figure who’s lionized and respected by many individuals.
The speaker stated this in a congratulatory statement to Shittu on his 55th birthday, a copy of which was obtained by InsightMedia in Osogbo on Saturday.
He commended the congressional stateman and political maverick, for his unwaivering spirit of nationalism and persistent advocacy for the entrenchment of rule of law and other democratic principles.
While appraising Shittu, the speaker cited the amazing plethora of humanitarian and selfless services that the celebrant has gracefully offered to our beloved nation without the attachment of any form of self gratification or satisfaction of personal interest.
Owoeye said Shittu earned his national figure as a result of his ironclad political consciousness, impregnable reputation and excellent human rights activism.
The Speaker also highlighted Amitolu’s affiliation and progressive collaboration with great minds alike such as the late Gani Fawehinmi, a human rights activist who established and founded the National Conscience Party (NCP) where CASH was the Deputy National Chairman.
Timothy Owoeye also praised the sagacity and astuteness of the celebrant for possessing the ability to draw a fine line between progressive activism and political hooliganism as he explained that activism is not necessarily a tool for causing chaos and pandemonium if carefully utilized.
The Speaker wishes Comrade Amitolu the very best as he continues to imprint his good legacies in the history books of Nigeria politics.
