Ahead of 2020 governorship election in Ondo State, a political group, Abraham Support Organisation (ASO), has started moves to ensure that, Dr Olusegun Abraham becomes the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the next governorship election in the state.
It will be recalled that Abraham came second during the controversial primaries of the party that produced incumbent governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in 2016 and he challenged the results through legal battle.
The Director-General of the group, Kunle Eko-Davies, spoke with reporters in Akure, the state capital, shortly after yesterday’s meeting of the group in Akure South Local Government Area.
Eko-Davies said all other interested persons in the party for the coveted position in the state had one thing or the other to be cleared of.
According to him, Ondo State people will gladly embrace and welcome the candidature of Abraham if picked by the party.
He noted that if elected, Abraham would bring relief and the desired dividends of democracy to all and sundry without neglecting and seeing any group as opposition.
Eko-Davies promised that relatives of those who had supported the group but had died would still benefit from the Abraham government if elected as governor of the state.
According to him, the current State Working Committee of the party in Ondo needed to be sanitised to avoid sending the party to extinction in the state.
The DG, therefore, lent his voice for dissolution of the state executive of the party, saying it would give equal treatment and fairness to all groups in the party for smoothness and rancour-free primary election of the party come 2020.
