A combined effort of men of Nigerian Army and FCT Police Command on Saturday foiled an attempted robbery at a branch of First Bank PLC in Mpape, a suburb of the Abuja
The spokesperson of the command, ASP Mariam Yusuf, confirmed to our reporter that normalcy has been restored in the area after four of the suspects were arrested and one of them gunned down.
The CP, Bala Ciroma, confirmed that one of those arrested was a staff of the bank, who was acting as an insider for the four others.
The armed robbers were said to have stormed the bank, shooting sporadically into the air to scare people away. They were said to have succeeded in gaining entry into the banking hall.
Shortly after gaining access, the police and army arrived the scene but the robbers had refused to come out of the bank.
It was gathered that one of the robbers, attempted to force his way out was shot but remained indoor with gunshot injury.
