Information has emerged that any federal worker not captured into the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) should not expect the January salary.
It was learnt that the resolve not to credit the accounts of workers yet to be captured into the system is party of efforts by the Federal Government to capture every of its staff on the IPPIS.
The Nation heard from a reliable source at the federal ministry of Finance that “anybody not captured on IPPIS will not receive salary henceforth, irrespective of where the person works.”
By implication, the university lecturers who have refused to be captured into the system will forfeit their salaries until they comply with government’s directive to be on the IPPIS platform.
“If he/she is captured, the salary will be paid. If he/she is not captured, his/her salary will not be paid”, the source told The Nation.
On the controversial varsity teachers’ decision not to embrace the IPPIS, another source in the Office of the Account General of the Federation (OAGF), confirmed that an internal memo was actually sent to the Minister of Finance not to pay the salaries of those not captured on the platform.
According to the source the OAGF has concluded its assignment on the IPPIS.
The source at the OAGF said: “It is an internal memo between two departments; the final decision still rests with the government. It is a request to say the AGF has complied with its own side of the issue.
“It is now left for the minister who has the final say. Until the minister speaks, we have finished our own side and made a request and the minister has not responded. It is left for the minister.”
The Federal Government has stopped the release of funds by the Finance minister for the payment of salaries of lecturers who have not enrolled on the IPPIS.
The Nation confirmed that the memo originated from the OAGF.
The memo, signed by Mr. Olufehinti O. J., IPPIS Director in the OAGF, reads: “l am directed to inform you that the preparation of January 2020 salary payroll and Warrants of the Federal Tertiary institutions are ongoing and will be ready for submission on or before 29th of January, 2020.” (The Nation)
