Activities marking the 60th anniversary of Oke-Iragbiji Grammar School, Iragbiji has commenced today. This was contained in a statement by the Chairman, 60th anniversary planning committee, Professor Siyan Oyeweso and obtained by InsightMedia in Osogbo, on Saturday.

According to Oyeweso, the week-long event will commence with an appearance on popular Sunday morning show, Eroya on OSBC radio to discuss the line-up of events marking the celebration.

He said the 60th anniversary celebration will also serve as an avenue to raise funds for developmental projects in the school.

Other programmes lined up are Inter-School Quiz Competition among students of selected High schools on Monday, January 27th and this will be followed by Inter-School debate contest on Tuesday.

Environmental sanitation and sensitization talk will be held on Wednesday, 29th January while novelty match will be played on Thursday.

Friday has been fixed for motivational and career talks for the students in the morning before a special Juma’t service will be observed at the Iragbiji Central Mosque later in the day. Members of the association shall proceed to the Palace of Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdurrosheed Olabomi Odundun 11 to pay homage to the monarch shortly after the Juma’t service.

The grand finale, which shall witness special lecture, award presentation and find raising will be held at Double Hills Hotel, Iragbiji on Saturday.

Governor of the state of Osun, Mr Gboyega Oyetola will be the Special Guest of Honour while a Professor of History, Olutayo Adesina of the University of Ibadan will be the guest lecturer.

The event will be rounded off with Anniversary Thanksgiving Service at St. Peters Church, Iragbiji on Sunday, Feb., 2nd.

All other activities are to be held at the school premises.

The committee therefore invites the general public to be part of the ceremony.
