The Osun State chapter of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN) on Saturday inaugurated a new set of Executives at NUJ Press centre, Osogbo, the state capital.

The epoch making event was supervised and coordinated by the outgoing Chairman of OOMPA, Mr Adesoji Omosebi in company of the Osun State Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Chairman, Comrade Kehinde Ayantuji, who was represented at the event.

In his final remark as the Chairman, Omosebi congratulated all members, most especially, the newly constituted State excos and outgoing Excos for the success, adding that the association has gone a long way but still have “many rivers to cross”.

He says, “According to the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, government is a ‘continuum’ which literarily means this new administration to be sworn-in today is a continuity of the outgoing administration, We have come a long way in the past two years to get to where are today, he said.

SOJ enjoined his successor to be “calm and calculative in decision making, to be just and fair to all members, to carry all members along, to be transparent, to respect the constitution of the association, to be vigilant, to be accountable, to be professional and instil professionalism in all members.”

The newly inaugurated State officials include:
1. Jare Ismahil Tiamiyu – (Insight Multi-Links Media) Chairman
2. Tajudeen Hammed (Blaze News) – Secretary General
3. Tunde Bright Olorungbotemi (Voice air media) – PRO
4. Ismail Kolapo (News Corridor) – Treasurer
5. Idowu Yusuf (Ideal Plus Media) – Welfare officer.

Subsequently, in his inaugural speech as the 3rd chairman of Osun Online Media Practitioners Association, Jare Tiamiyu, the Publisher of Insight Multi-Links Media, thanked the God for his blessings on every member and intending members of the association.

He said his administration will be anchored by professionalism and credibility, while transparency and accountability shall be his watchword.

His speech partly reads, “As one of the cabinet members in that tenure, I’m here today, standing tall in your presence, aware of the sacrifice made and to be made and ready for the heinous task ahead, he said.

“In my manifestoes, I rolled out thirteen programmes, which have been diligently and craftily coined to promote our organization and also build and project our platforms to an enviable height. In the next few days, we shall be embarking on visitations to traditional rulers, security agencies, political office holders, media house, tertiary institutions and other relevant stakeholders. Details of this shall be released in our weekly bulletins.

“In the next four months, our association shall have its own office equipped with facilities that will ease our works. Training and re-training shall be one of our core programmes as I believe that media world is, if not the most dynamic, one of the most dynamic professions in the world. Refresher courses are thereby needed to ensure we are up to speed and remain at the top at all times.

He urged the member to come together to set the right path for the generations coming behind, adding that their failure to do so will be unpardonable.

Jare, furthermore, appreciate his predecessors, the electoral committee and the members of the association, urging them to be steadfast and diligent in their jobs.

The new PRO, Comrade Tunde Bright Olorungbotemi led the vote of thanks, he thanked all committed members present and or in absentia, especially his predecessor, Lawal Sodiq of Fulcrum Times Nigeria (WithinNigeria) who supported his ambition with a good recommendation while urging all members especially the new executive members to remain competent, united and transparent in all their dealings and more professional in their activities in line with the goals of the professional body, especially in the state.

In his closing remarks, he clarified that the association isn’t and shouldn’t be seen as a union but a group of professionals loyal to the profession.

He also congratulated the Excos who have been saddled with the responsibility of managing the affairs of the Association in the state for the next two years before another an election will be held amongst the members.
