Iderade Foundation Storms Osun Online Media Secretariat, Distributes Hand Sanitizers to Journalists

A social political group in Osun, Iderade Foundation on Monday stormed Secretariat of Osun Online Media Practitioners Association (OOMPA) in Osogbo distributed hand sanitizer to the online journalists of the state to prevent them from Coronavirus pandemic.

The NGO team led by Honorable Funsho Babarinde described the virus as a disease that can be transmitted from person to person, urging residents of Osun to keep away from anyone suspected of high fever, cough, sneezes nonstop and heavy breathing.

Babarinde disclosed this in the state capital, Osogbo, stressed that the foundation embarked on distributing hand sanitizer for all journalists in the state to prevent them from contracting the deadly virus saying newsmen are part of those allowed by the state government to go on with their work after total lockdown of the state begins tomorrow.

He urged Osun residents to avoid using their hand to touch their face , nose and mouth saying the virus can only enter body through the wet surfaces.

He also implored citizens to find new way of acknowledging greeting and do away with hand shaking for the period of Coronavirus pandemic.

“Our elderly parents are more susceptible, please help them to keep well and transmit this information to them immediately to reduce physical contact with people no more hugging in greeting.

“If you suspect that you have come in contact with a sick person self-isolate yourself for a few days, so as not to infect your family.

“Avoid large gatherings that are more than 50 people, as you do not know who is a carrier of this disease from facial appearance” Babarinde said.

The Chairman of OOMPA, Mr Jare Tiamiyu appreciated the kind gesture extended to the organization by the foundation, adding that the items will aid the movement of journalists as the join battle against COVID-19.
