Government of the state of Osun has confirmed two deaths from Coronavirus complications in the state.

The Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola disclosed this during a press briefing at the government house in Osogbo on Sunday.

Oyetola said 12 new cases have been discovered in the state as announced by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control on Saturday.

He said two of the 12 cases have died, three are heath workers, one from Ibadan, one from Lagos and the remaining are returnees from Benin Republic.

He said the deceased are from Lagos and have underlying medical challenges. The deceased are from Ife and Ede.

The Governor added that the lockdown across the state is still intact, while expressing his dissatisfaction over the level of compliance in the recent times.

Oyetola urged the people in the state to ensure that their relatives do not travel this moment as it mounts more pressure on the security agents at the borders in the state.

The government commiserated with the family of those that have lost their lives, adding that their burials will be done in accordance with the protocols established by the NCDC.

While commending the Muslim faithful who are fasting and obeying social distancing, the governor called on residents of the state to ensure maximum compliance with the lockdown.
