Oyo state government will lockdown the state for two days in order to distribute the palliatives across households in the state.
The Commissioner for Special Duties, Chief Bayo Lawal made this revelation on Tuesday while speaking during a radio on COVID-19 situation room on Fresh FM.
Lawal Ibadan explained that the government may lockdown the state by the time distribution of palliative packages commence in order to restrict human and vehicular movement.
He explained further that palliative packages in the state will soon be distributed as arrangements had almost concluded and by the end of the week, the distribution may kick-off.
He also stated that the subcommittee in charge of palliative packages had identified the poorest of the poor across the state and those affected will be considered irrespective of political affiliation or religion differences.
The commissioner added that the figure of the population in the state announced by the federal government was not correct as the state population as at now stands at 7.8 million as against the earlier figure given by the FG.
Lawal also noted that the packages will also be extended to those at the frontline of the battle against COVID 19 like health workers and members of the Nigeria Union Of Journalists.
