Police in Kwara State have confirmed the killing of a commercial bus driver, Hammed Idowu by a local security man enforcing lockdown in the state, Suleiman Tajudeen.

The police in a statement by its spokesperson, Ajayi Okesanmi said it has commenced investigation into the matter as Tajudeen has been arrested.

The statement reads, ‘A comercial bus reportedly driven by one Hammed Idowu ‘M’ now late, coming to Ilorin through a bush path in order to avoid the police checkpoint at eiyenkorin was contravened inside the bush path by a local hunter named Suleiman Tajudeen ‘M’ employed by the Alagbado community, Eyenkorin.

“According to the report, altercation between the victim who was the driver of the commercial bus and the hunter led the shooting to death of the driver by the hunter. The Commissioner of police has directed the State Cid to take up the investigation of the matter.

“Attempt by some driver colleagues of the late driver to protest the death of the driver had been nipped and calm has been restored, meanwhile the suspected killer has been arrested.”
