As the Holy month of Ramadan ends in style, a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party in Osun State, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi has congratulated Muslim Ummah across the state and beyond.
Ogunbiyi in a statement signed by him on Saturday and obtained by InsightMedia in Osogbo, described the fasting is an exercise in self-restraint and a time to detach from worldly pleasures. He maintained that the end of Ramadan should be marked by intense worship and prayer for the state and Nigeria.
He stated this in his Eid-el-Fitri message to Muslims Ummah. A copy of the statement was forwarded to pressmen in Osogbo, the state capital, on Saturday.
In part, it reads, “Muslim scholars have noted that fasting is intended to bring the faithful closer to God and to remind us of the suffering of the less privileged.”
“Besides, a vast majority of people, both Muslims and non-Muslims can attest to the sanctity of the Holy month. The lessons and massive generosity inherent in the month are huge and must be sustained, especially now that everyone is looking up to God for the healing of our land and restoration of everything that makes like exhilarating.”
While congratulating the Muslims faithful, the insurance guru admonished adherents of the religion, in the light of the ravaging pandemic, to exercise caution during the celebration and stay safe.
