Muazu Magaji, the former Kano State Commissioner who was sacked after celebrating the death of Mallam Abba Kyari, the Chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, has tested positive for COVID-19.

Magaji was the commissioner for works and infrastructure in Kano before he was fired by the state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, because of posts he made on his Facebook page.

However, Magaji maintained that he was misunderstood and denied celebrating the death of the Chief of Staff.

Kyari died on April 17 in a hospital in Lagos after battling with the coronavirus.

The sacked commissioner, on Thursday, again took to his Facebook page to announce his coronavirus status.

He said he has been moved to one of the isolation centres in the state.

“This morning my NCDC test is out… I have been confirmed COVID-19 positive and have been moved to one of the state facilities.. pray for u!”, the post read.

Earlier before, the former commissioner posted on his Facebook page that he has been down for some days and that his sample was taken by the NCDC and awaiting the result, which later turned positive. Magaji urged people to pray for him for recovery from the disease.
