The People’s Democratic Party in Osun State has called on the Muslims across the state to reflect through the challenges facing the moment and supplicate to Almighty Allah during this year’s Eid-l-Kabir festival.
The party made the call in a statement signed by the Acting Chairman, Elder Sunday Akanfe Atidade on Friday to celebrate the festival with Muslim faithful.
The party said it congratulates the long suffering people of the State, especially Muslim faithful across the length and breath of the state on this year’s Eid-El Kabir celebrations.
“It is no gainsaying that citizens of this state have had to endure on the strength of the teachings of Almighty Allah on Eid-El Kabir for almost a decade now for obvious reasons of a season of detached administration.
“Many in the past decade have had to make imposed sacrifices, while many have paid the supreme price. More Widows and widowers have been painfully created with attendant colony of orphans. All these because some invading aliens would not compromise greed for good governance. The state as a matter of fact, wouldn’t have asked for more from innocent citizens of Osun State.
“To compound the woes confronting us as a people, is the outbreak of covid-19 pandemic that has restricted us to subsistence living without humane response from those in custody of our commonwealth. The past 6 months could have been more harrowing for all of us but for the interventions of Almighty Allah, who like the chronological teachings of this season, has sustained the remnants of us who are still being supported by our active veins and limbs.
“I however urge our Muslim brothers and sisters in the state, to reflect through the challenges of this moment and offer supplications to God of timeous help as enshrined in the holy book record of this season, for rekindled light at the end of this dark tunnel in the history of our dear state.
“I also appeal to all of us to remain humble with God, no matter the provocative stance of this time. In our humbleness however, we must remain hopeful, steadfast and focused for a new dawn of a better life.
“Seek Allah’s help with patient, perseverance and prayer. It is indeed hard except for those who are humble.” (Quran 2:45). This is an admonition efficiently suitable for our peculiar kind of experience as we wedge bonny resources together to celebrate and rejoice among ourselves.
“In our celebrations though, let us be mindful of the ravaging scourge of covid-19. I advise us to celebrate with high degree of restraint and in accordance with all known professional advice against spread of the viral pandemic. We must be alive to win together.
Once again, on behalf of all of us in Osun PDP, I say Barka Da Sallah.
