A team of Amotekun corps in Osun State, led by its Field Commander, Amitolu Shittu, on Monday intercepted two truck loads of marble stones being transported by suspected illegal miners, at LAMECO area of Osogbo, the state capital.
Each truck was occupied by a driver and motor boy, who said they were conveying the precious stones from Oba-Oke, in Olorunda North LCDA of the state to an area in Lagos State.
The four men also claimed they were registered miners.
However, findings from authority of the LCDA indicate that their claim was false and mischievous.
As at the time of filing this report, the two truck loads of marble stones have been impounded at the state police command and the four men handed over to the command, for further investigations.
In his reaction, Shittu expressed displeasure that some people still engage in economic sabotage; calling on residents to always alert the state security outfit whenever they observe any suspicious movement or activity in any part of the state of Osun.
