Osun State Government on Friday, July 17, enumerated the achievements of the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in the areas of infrastructures, transportation, health and women affairs.
The government stated the achievements during an inter-ministerial press conference held at the governor’s office, Abeere, Osogbo.
Present at the conference were the Commissioner for information and civic orientation, Funke Egbemode, her counterparts in the works and transport, Remi Omowaiye, health ministry, Rafiu Isamotu and women affairs ministry, Olubukola Olaboopo.
Others were the Special Adviser to the governor on works and transport, Olatoke Olaniyan and Apecial Adviser on Health, Siji Olamiju.
In her short address, Egbemode said the inter-ministerial will be done at interval in order to project the achievements of Governor Oyetola to the public.
Presenting the achievements of the administration in the health sector, Isamotu said over 250 Primary Healthcare Centers have been revitalized across the state in the last two years.
He also reeled out the achievements in the battle against COVID-19, stating that the prior investment into the sector helped in the fight.
Isamotu also revealed that the state has spent N900m on the battle against COVID-19 since late March, when it entered the state.
In his presentation, Omowaiye said at the month of July 2020, the administration of Oyetola has constructed over 480.341Km roads comprising Contract-Executed, Direct Labour Execution, Public Private Partnership and Collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Works Road Projects.
He stated that under the highway department of the ministry, almost all local governments in the state have benefited from road constructions and rehabilitations demand made available through the citizens needs assessment of Osun residents which is the courtesy of Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s administration.
He added that some of this projects were inherited from previous administration while the contractors have been given adequate support to return to site and complete the contract, adding that most of the roads which were funded by Oyetola’s administration, are close to 100 percent completion and ready for commissioning.
He said the economic benefits that people of Osun will derive from the roads are parts of the driving force for the approval of the road Constructions by the government, adding that there are testimonies of roads that have been abandoned for years being reconstructed by the government to the commendation of the people.
Omowaiye also revealed that Osun Ministry of Works has constructed about Two hundred and Fifty Six Primary Health Care Centers across local governments in the state, adding that construction of Doctors quarters, 120-Bed Wards and Remodeling of Main Surgical Theater at the State Specialist Hospital Asubiaro are ongoing, while Rehabilitation of Blood bank building, Children Ward, Laboratory Service Building, and Remodeling of the Surgical Ward at the State Specialist Hospital among others have reached 100-percent completion.
Describing Governor Gboyega Oyetola as ‘a “talk and do” Governor who believes that success and the needs of the people are mandatory, assured Osun residents of the continuous provision of infrastructures by the present government.
Also, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Transport, Mr Toke Olaniyan,stated that the ministry is appreciative to Osun citizens for their compliance with the government regulations on works and transportation issues.
The Commissioner for Women, Children and Social Affairs revealed that the investment into critical sector has uplifted the standards of life of the women in the state.
