The Osun Civil Societies Coalition has stated that it will commence a mass action against the federal government over hike in electricity tariff and fuel pump price on Wednesday.
The Coalition in a statement by Waheed and Fatai Tijani said the five-day ultimatum given the federal government to reverse the increments will lapse on Wednesday and the protest will start on Wednesday.
The statement partly reads, “In line with our 5-day ultimatum given to the Federal Government for the reversal of the increment in fuel price and electricity tariff, we write to inform you, the media, that we shall commence mass action after the expiration of the ultimatum which begins on Wednesday, the 9th of September, 2020.

“It is pertinent to state that the Federal Government has been acting in a cruel manner to further impoverish poor Nigerians whose pitiable standard of living and means of livelihood have been attacked by the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, through the obnoxious increment.
“While developed nations are rolling out social intervention programmes to cushion the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic, it is unfortunate that the Nigerian government, in its unthinkable, wicked and provoking policy, decided to further unleash hardship on Nigerians by the increment in fuel and electricity tariff. We are not going to accept this.
“Our 5-day ultimatum will ends on Wednesday, the 9th of September, 2020, after which we will commence mass action.”
Insightmedia reported how the Coalition blocked major roads in Osogbo, Osun State capital on Friday during the protest.
