The people of Igbajo in Boluwaduro Local Government Area of the State of Osun on Sunday lauded the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for being committed to human capital development and capacity building.

The sons and daughters of the ancient town appreciated the governor for inaugurating the reconstruction of Igbajo-Ada road which had been neglected for 33 years.

The Asiwaju of Igbajo, Chief Solomon Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN) who led the delegation of Igbajo Development Association (IDA) on a courtesy call on the Governor at the Government House, Osogbo, said Osun was very lucky to have a personality like Oyetola as Governor of the State at this critical moment.

Awomolo who described Oyetola as a man of integrity, humility and calmness, said it was worthy of note that the Governor had brought to bear, the wealth of experience, knowledge and understanding garnered in both the private and public sectors to advance the State.

The legal luminary who claimed to have done a performance survey on the Governor to assess his achievements in the last one and half years, noted that he was enthused to see the milestone achievements the administration had recorded across the sectors, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, health, education and agriculture.

He added: “We have come here today to thank you, appreciate you and say to you that Owa of Igbajo, Oba Adeniyi Olufemi Fasade, and all the sons and daughters home and abroad of the ancient town appreciate you for inaugurating the reconstruction of Igbajo-Ada road that had been abandoned and left in a deplorable condition over the years.

“There is no doubt that the quest for the reconstruction of the road was long awaited and long overdue. Your kind gesture to reconstruct this road will bring a relief not only to Igbajo people but also the adjoining communities.

“For many years, this road has been crying for rehabilitation. Even before I became the Commissioner for Justice in the State, this road had been in a terrible state.

“But today, we thank God for using your government to come to our aid. This will go a long way to redefine many things in the benefiting communities.

“You have given us a great relief. Osun is very lucky to have you as Governor at this time. You have come to power with deep experience in both the private and the public sectors as reflected in the way and manner you have been prudently and sensibly running the resources and affairs of the State.

“No doubt, you are a man of integrity, capacity, experience, humility and ingenuity and these rare qualities always speak for you anywhere you are. Being an integral part of good governance, you have demonstrated a high sense of capacity and capability to turn around the fortunes of the State.

“I have surveyed your achievements in the last one and half years, and I am happy to say that your government has contributed significantly to the growth and development of the State and this has been attested to by the good things that people say about you.

“You have demonstrated to us that you have capacity and competence to take Osun to greater heights. We are proud of you and your government”.

In his remarks, Governor Oyetola said the decision to build the infrastructure was part of the administration’s resolve to open Osun to local and foreign investors as part of efforts to reposition the State.

He said the administration would continue to do the needful in line with the people’s demands as collated during the “Thank You” visit across the state.

He said: “I am particularly elated for this visit. What we did was basically what we were supposed to do as a government. We are not here for frivolity but to take every opportunity for the advantage of our people. We are here to serve. We have allowed people to have a say in government. That is why we embarked on a ‘Thank You’ visit to know what our people want and we do our things in line with their respective demands.

“All the roads we are constructing are part of the critical roads we have identified as major demands of the people when we went round the State. We prioritise this road because of the consistent demand of the people and this road is also very significant it is the road that leads to Kiriji war site, the hometown of our party Chairman and the legal Icon.

“I know God has been with us to achieve all these because just few days ago, we flagged off Osun International Trade Centre and Inland Port. We know that reward for hard work is more work. That is why we are not resting on our oars to reposition the state.

“Your appreciation shows that we are on the right course and the right path. We will not take this for granted but rather continue to forge ahead to bring more succour to our people. We are going to do more infrastructure.

“As you all know, we have given priority to health of our people. We have made quality health accessible and affordable for all just as we are revitalising the education sector. We know it is a rare opportunity for us to serve five million people in Osun. All we need is your prayers and cooperation to take the State to greater heights.”

Earlier, the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr. Remi Omowaye, had assured the people of Igbajo of quality and standard job, saying the state would do everything possible to ensure the timely completion and delivery of the project.

Also, the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Gboyega Famodun, expressed profound gratitude to the Governor for rescuing the people of Igbajo out of road infrastructure quagmire that had crippled their socioeconomic activities and livelihood.
