Supporters of The All Progressives Congress in Oriade local government area of Osun State on Saturday clashed during burial of an in-law to one of the leaders of the party in the area, Hon. Sola Adewumi.
The clash according to what InsightMedia gathered was between supporters of the incumbent Chairman of the LG, Mr Bunmi Obeisun and those loyal to an aspirant for the Chairmanship position, Mr Bimbo Lawanson.
Our Correspondent gathered that Awoyemi Olayinka Rafael, who is a ward 11 Councillorship Aspirant of the party, was injured during the attack by thugs who is said to be APC local government youth leader, who is working for the reelection of Obeisun.
A source, who witnessed the attack said the hoodlums came to challenge Olayinka on his way when he wanted to go and get an envelope.
“The APC thug claimed to be APC Oriade youth leader came and began harassing the ward 11 councillorship aspirant because he did not support Hon. Bunmi Obeisun.
The local youth leader politically known as Wale Elewa assaulted him and cut him with cutlass on his right eyes side,” the source said.
Some political leaders, who was also at the scene, confirmed the attack they added.
Efforts by our Correspondent to get the Chairman to react failed as he said he couldn’t hear what our Correspondent was saying.
