The Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has congratulated Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, Phillip Shaibu over their victory in the September 21 gubernatorial elections in the state.
The party also applauded the unwavering resilience of electorates in Edo State, culminating in resounding victory recorded by the party in the governorship poll.
In a congratulatory message signed by the State Acting Chairman of the party, Honorable Sunday Olatunde Akanfe (Atidade) on Monday said, the peaceful but vigilant approach of stakeholders and the good people of Edo State before during and after casting their ballots was testament to the fact that oppression can never thrive against willing army of the people.
Osun PDP also commended the Chairman, PDP Campaign Council for the Edo gubernatorial election, Governor Nysom Wike of Rivers State, his counterparts in Oyo and Delta States; Engr Seyi Makinde and Dr Ifeanyi Okowa respectively for standing tall for democracy at a crucial time when those he described as badly unpopular opportunists in power are doing everything possible to derail the country’s democratic experience through violent rigging of elections.
While appreciating the National Working Committee of the party led by the National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus for their exemplary roles played towards victorious outing of Governor Godwin Obaseki, Hon. Akanfe enjoined critical stakeholders of the party to build on the victory recorded in Edo State and save the country from total collapse in the hands of ruinous APC.
The party hopes voters in other states in the country will take inspiration from determined conduct of electorate in Edo State who shunned and rubbished last minute manipulative force of inducements deployed by the APC ostensibly to subvert their will.
Osun PDP therefore called on Nigerians to henceforth, rise and respond to APC seeming cluelessness in governance by treating them to brick walls of defeats through the ballots as resoundingly expressed by the great people of Edo State.
