The Christian Association of Nigeria, Osun State chapter has dissociated itself from the proposed Osogbo prayer walk, calling on all Christians not to participate in it.
According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Association, Rev. John Adeleke, which was obtained by InsightMedia in Osogbo on Thursday, the CAN leadership said it has not endorsed any prayer walk, stating that the purported one has no blessing of Christian leaders in the state.
The OSCAN reiterated its commitment to any move that will better Nigeria, but warned that a prayer walk should not be held at “a time like this”.
The statement partly reads, “We are Christians and we are apolitical. While we endorse anything that will ensure a better Nigeria for us and all other Nigerians, regardless of their faith, we are not party to the proposed Osogbo Prayer Walk and we therefore dissociate ourselves from it. Pray walk is good but it should not be in a time like this.
“We equally call on all Christians in our dear State of Osun to stay away from the proposed Osogbo Prayer Walk as it does not enjoy the blessing of the Christian leaders in Osun.
“Please who is organizing this Osogbo Prayer Walk in Osun? I want to know. The Osun CAN Chairman Bishop Kayode Ogunrinde said all Christians should ignore the above flyer and desist from participating in any prayer walk until directive comes from CAN EXCO.
