Following a report by InsightMedia on the lamentation of the members of National Association of Osun State Students from the state government, the Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola on Saturday met with the leadership of the association.

It would be recalled that InsightMedia on Thursday, November 12, reported that leadership of NAOSS was lamenting how all their efforts to sit with with Governor to discuss “pertinent issues” fell through.

Feeding his members, President of the association, Teslim Salahudeen stated that the meeting was held at the government house on Saturday, November 24.

In a statement obtained by InsightMedia on Sunday, the association presented a “position paper of demand” to the Governor during the meeting that was also attended by the Deputy Governor, Benedict Alabi; Secretary to the State Government, Wole Oyebamiji; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on students’ matters, Kehinde Ayantunji, among others state functionaries.

The statement signed by Babawale Popoola, the public relations officer read in part, “with great delight, we wish to inform the entire Osun State Students populace that yesterday 14th of November, a delegation of Students Leaders in an emergency meeting met with the state government of Osun, where the leadership of NAOSS presented the ‘Osun Students Position Paper Of Demand’ to Governor Gboyega Oyetola.

 

“Recall that recently, the Governor had presented the 2021 budget to the state house of assembly with a whooping amount of money allocated for the education sector.”

The  demands of the students as gathered are; Bursary and Scholarship, Special Tution fee for indigenous students who are schooling in state owned institutions, Empowerment  for NAOSSites Ang Capacity Building.

Others are repair of their Union Bus, construction of NAOSS  Secretariat and  Students’ Day.
