The crisis between the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic and the management of the Federal Polytechnic Ede has been resolved, InsightMedia has gathered.
It was gathered that academic activities, which has been suspended for over four weeks will resume today as lecturers have agreed to sheath their swords and return to classes.
It was gathered that at a meeting on Friday, the management presented a position to towards resolution of the imbroglio that has become a subject of protest among the students, and the ASUP representatives agreed with a vow to meet their colleagues at a Congress scheduled for Monday.
Speaking with our correspondent, ASUP Chairman, Nurudeen Masopa confirmed that his colleagues have agreed to the proposal by the management, stating that academic activities will resume on Tuesday.
He said, “I can confirm to you that during our Congress today, we resolved to suspend the sit-at-work strike and return to classes for the interest of the students.”
It was also gathered that the resolution to return to class was made easy with the intervention of the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal who had earlier called the parties to a meeting at his palace last week.
Our Correspondent also gathered that at the meeting at Timi’s palace, the monarch expressed his sadness over the development at the institution. He urged the parties to sit and find lasting solution to the crisis for the sake of the Students and the town.
