As the crisis between the management and the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic of Federal Polytechnic Ede continues, the students have resolved to leave the barricade mounted at the school gates to allow the two sides to hold peaceful meetings.
This was revealed in a statement signed by the President of the Students Union Government, Kazeem Ajibade and obtained by InsightMedia late on Wednesday.
He said the Students give the school management 4 days to resolve the crisis it has with the academic staff and order resumption of academic activities.
“In our bid to support and restore peace and normalcy on campus, we have decided to reopen the gates of the institutions and allow vehicular movement to and fro the campus, so that the management and lecturers can have room and avenue to dialogue and discuss.
“We don’t want them to use the closure of gates as excuse. Therefore we’re opening gates for them to resolve their matters between now and Sunday.
“However we are giving the management and lecturers an ultimatum of Monday, 16th of November, 2020 to call for resumption of academic activities, or else there will be mother of all protest. And we can’t predict the outcome of the protest.
“As from now on till Sunday, we want students, comrades and stakeholders to remain conscious of the law and order and warm up ahead of mother of all protest.
“We will never betray or negotiate the interest of Nigerian students.”
