Governor of the State of Osun, Mr Gboyega Oyetola has stated that he has no links with the “State boys” neither does he deal with the popular leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Asiri Eniba.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ismail Omipidan stated this on Friday in Osogbo during a live radio programme monitored by our correspondent.
The state boys are some people assembled by the immediate past Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as a security network.
Omipidan was on the programme to speak on the allegations levelled against the Government by Olawale Bakare, a co-convener of the #EndSARS protest in the state and member of RevolutionNow movement.
The Governor’s spokesman said he has never met Asiri Eniba in his life, let alone have any deal with him.
“Mr. Governor does not believe in thuggery and that is why he made certain speech about getting the youths engaged during his budget presentation on Monday. The only relationship between the government and the NURTW is the sustenance of peace because we all know how they behave when they fight.” Omipidan said.
“I have never met Asiri Eniba in my life. I didn’t even know him, let alone dealing with him.”
Addressing allegations of government’s attack and infiltrating #EndSARS protests in Osun by a leader of the protesters, Bakare, the CPS described Bakare as a serial liar who should not be taken serious by anyone.
“While I will not like to personalize anything with him, I wish to say that Bakare and his goons are attention seekers and they are doing this to keep getting donations. It is so unfortunate.” Omipidan added.
He said the government was critical of all its actions during the protest as to avoid breakdown of law and orders in the state.
