No fewer than eight persons have been injured as crisis broke out during the Installation of a new Chief Imam of Eruwa, a community in Oyo State.
Following the demise of the former Imam, Alhaji Yakubu Adesina in 2018, the town has been without a substantive Islamic leader.
Our Correspondent gathered that installation of the successor is now a threat to peaceful coexistence as residents of Oke-oba, Anko, Isaba, Aborerin, Bareke and other streets scamper for safety last Monday when hoodlums a attacked organizers and unleashed mayhem on Monday morning at Old Garage, Eruwa.
InsightMedia gathered stakeholders had made several failed attempts to have another Chief Imam in the community.
Fierce loyalists of one side of the families sticking out for the position were said to have waylaid convoy of another family coming from where they held a party for their favourite Imam designate.
Fracas broke out when the two sides met beside the community town hall around Oke-oba, Eruwa.
Thugs hijacked the process and unleashed terror on many people, leaving 10 persons seriously injured.

Idere Update correspondent who was at the scene, reported that the position tussle seems to have been hijacked by thugs brandishing lethal weapons, breaking bottles and threatening to kill one another.
Momentary argument between the two sides degenerated into bloody clash as no fewer than 10 persons have been confirmed to have sustained various degrees of injuries, while a number of residents at Bareke area had vacated their residence for safety as the fiery clash which showed the two sides throwing stones, bottles and cutlass continues.
As at the time of filing this report, identity of individuals struggling for the position of Chief Imam of Eruwa could not be ascertained.
