•••About 1000 people trained, empowered with cash, equipment

Lawmaker representing Irepodun/Olorunda/Orolu/Osogbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Olubukola Oyewo has completed two rounds of empowerment programmes within a week for his Constituents.

The first was a skills acquisition programme which included distribution of starter packs to the participants. Participants, mostly females, were trained on soap making and other skills.

The starter packs as sighted by InsightMedia consist of ingredients for the skills acquired and a sum of ten thousand naira to set the ground running for the business.

The second programme was distribution of equipment to selected individuals across all wards of the Constituency.

The two programmes were held at Osogbo City Hall, Osogbo between December 1 and December 3.

Speaking at the programme on Wednesday, the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji commended the Lawmaker for his “thoughtfulness”, stating that the empowerment will go a long way in alleviating poverty at the grassroots.

The Monarch expressed his satisfaction over the performance of Oyewo in the green Chambers, stating the lawmaker “has performed beyond expectations”.

In his address, the Lawmaker said he’s touched by the need to empower his people through vocational training and distribution of equipment.

Oyewo added that the programmes were in fulfilment of his promises to his Constituents during electioneering process.

“I want to thank God that we have been able to touch several lives positively in the last three days. The programmes are in fulfilment of the electoral promises I made back in 2019. I believe that with what we have done so far, the economy of this area will greatly improve.

“As a lawmaker, apart from our primary purpose in the Chambers, programmes like these are very important and we will ensure we bring more of it to our Constituents.”

Also in her remarks, the immediate past Deputy Governor in the state, Mrs Titilayo Laoye-Ponle showered praises on Oyewo for bringing dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of his Constituents.

She enjoined beneficiaries to make use of the equipment given to them judiciously and not put them up for sale.

Laoye-Ponle said, “I want us to commend Hon. Bokoy (Oyewo) for bringing dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of his Constituents. This is highly commendable. I want to plead with all of you not to put up the materials given to you up for sale. It’s to boost your income and improve the economy of our area, please make use of it.”

Also present at the event were Olobu of Ilobu, Oba Ashiru Olatoye Olaniyan; Oloba of Oba Oke, Oba Adam Yusuf; Alie of Ile, Oba Oladapo Siyanbola; APC leaders across the Federal Constituency, leaders of artisan groups, among many others.
