Police in Osun State have confirmed the rescue of travellers kidnapped by gunmen along Akure road on Tuesday.
Police public relations officer, SP Yemisi Opalola made this known in a statement to InsightMedia on Wednesday morning.
According to her, the victims were rescued on Tuesday night by a joint operation of police, Amotekun Corps, JTF and vigilantes.
The statement reads, “This is to inform you that the kidnapped victims along Akure road have been rescued yesterday night during joint operations of NPF, Hunters, Amotekun, Vigilante and JTF while combing the forest in that area.
“Be reminded that the Commissioner of Police, Wale Olokode had earlier vowed to ensure their release, and make sure that Osun Command is rid of every criminal activities. His word is his bond.”
The police assured that activities are ongoing to arrest the criminals.
