Osun State Government has reinstated its commitment towards the improving welfare and standard of living of every resident of the state.

The Commissioner for Political Affairs and Intergovernmental Relations, Taiwo Akeju made this commitment on Wednesday in Osogbo during a meeting with newly elected officials of Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC who were on courtesy visit to his office.

Akeju said even though the state of facing some challenges due to paucity of funds, but it has been meeting up with all important requirements including paying of salaries before the federal government and infrastructural development.

He assured the IPAC executives of the readiness of Osun state government under Governor Gboyega Oyetola to collaborate with people with ideas towards moving the state forward, adding that the Governor is an open minded individual, whose priority is to building a greater Osun for all.

“As a government, we have done so well and will continue to do well for our people. Even despite paucity of funds, Osun has been paying salaries regularly, even before federal government. We have done so well in terms of infrastructural development without taking a dime as loan. This is what preoccupies the mind of Governor Oyetola.

“Let me assure you that our government is ready to collapse with anyone who has ideas on how to move Osun State forward.”

Akeju also congratulated the IPAC for having a rancour free election, describing it as a show of unity among the political parties in the state.

In his speech, the Chairman of IPAC, Mr Adebayo Simon commended the government for what it has achieved, stating that the group is ready to partner with Osun government towards building a more resilient and prosperous state. He said the criticism, when necessary shall be a constructive one.

Simon, who is from the Allied People’s Movement (APM), said, “Let me state here that we may not always agree on every style of governance and ideologies, but our mode of communicating our views on matters will be constructive and not destructive.”

The group also appealed for the provision of a Secretariat and an operational bus for the IPAC.

Present at the meeting were representatives of NNPP, Tosin Odeyemi; ADC, Idowu Omidiji; ADP, Adegboyega Murtala; APGA, Popoola Olatunji; YPP, Remi Ayanlade; APP, Odesola Oluseye and ZLP, Femi Adedeji.
