The Diplomatic Sojourn
Rt. Hon Adejare Bello was appointed as the Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Mexico by President Muhammad Buhari during the closing months of 2020. This attainment is a landmark and first of its kind in the succulent history of the ancient town of Ede. 44 Though Ede is blessed with a sizable number of human resources and professionals in virtually all fields of human endeavour, Rt. Hon. Adejare Bello laid a historical foundation by becoming the first Ede indigene to be appointed as a Nigerian Ambassador (Non-Career).
This historical landmark is not even limited to the shores of Ede Township: Hon. Bello the first IS to be appointed a Nigerian Ambassador within the western geo-political division of Osun State. In Osun State in general, the number of those who had been initially appointed as Nigerian Ambassadors (Career or Non-Career) is very few including Ambassadors Dapo Fafowora, Baju Bamigbetan, Adedokun Haastrup, Bolaji Akinyemi, and Oluwasegun Ibidapo-Obe among others. It is in this tiny club of elites that Rt. Hon. Adejare Bello has just joined.
The attainment of this landmark is a combination of a number of factors. Paramount among these is the Invincible Hands of God who had decided to raise him from obscurity to prominence.
In addition, God has blessed Rt. Hon. Adejare with luck of meeting the right people who always provide him with the right link and support.
With respect to this ambassadorial appointment, his luck also shone as eminent persons within and outside Osun politics such as Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and the APC National Leader (Asiwaju Bola Tinubu) supported his appointment. 45 According to him, it was the aide camp and personal assistance to Asiwaju Tinubu that first called to confirm his interest in the position. His response was affirmative.
Also, there were calls from H. E Governor Gboyega Oyetola and the Honourable Minister for Interior and Internal Affairs (Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola) to brief him about the new development. His responses to these political stalwarts were also in the affirmative and the process was sealed. Having sent the names of the nominees to the Senate for confirmation, his appointment as Nigerian Ambassador was confirmed.
The induction ceremonies were concluded on 18 February 2021.
