Nigerian youths have been urged to embrace the culture of hard work and learning in order to realise their God-given potentials.
This was the highpoint of the submission of Dr. Emeka Nwosu, a public intellectual and former Political Editor of the old Daily Times when he appeared as a Guest of the African Independent Television (AIT), Abuja on Monday, May 16, 2021.
Dr. Nwosu who was addressing Nigerian youths on AIT public affairs programme, ‘Readers4Growth’, noted that the road to greatness comes with a lot of difficulties, adding that the youths must embrace hard work and culture of reading as this would equip them to face future challenges with unbridled confidence.
He reminded the youths that nothing good in life comes easy and cheap, urging them not to follow the wide and expansive road that leads to nowhere, but follow the narrow path that leads to greatness.
Quoting the Scriptures, he said: “Nothing in life comes easy and cheap. If you follow the wide and expansive road, it leads to nowhere. But if you follow the narrow path, it leads you to the desired destination.”
He implored the youths to put in a lot of efforts in everything they do in order to manifest their God-given talents
Dr. Nwosu tasked Nigerian youths to develop and imbibe the culture of reading because it would inspire them to rediscover their hidden talents and attain new heights.
Emphasizing the essence of hard work, he drew the attention of the youths to the example of Nigeria’s Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the first woman and black African to be elected the Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
He asked the youths to shun bad influence and cultivate the fellowship of only those peers that can bring positive influence to bear upon them.
Dr. Nwosu read from a section of his book, ‘Nigeria and the Crisis of the Nation State,’ published in 2012 to animate and inspire the youths.
